Artist Statement: “As an immigrant I have always been aware of my otherness in the art world. Having two distinctive cultures that influence your upbringing creates a unique perspective on what it is to be African in America. Try to bridge those two worlds By using multiple mediums, my work directly parallels my life as a hybrid artist and personal identity. Influenced by both early renaissance and traditional art technique and standards  I incorporate the aspects of Ghanaian culture that I will always love and remember with the American culture I have emerged into. Using discarded or cheap materials that reflect the makeshift inventiveness of my childhood in combination with techniques and ideas developed in America.”
